I guess photography is like any other creative activity - it doesn't need a reason, it just IS. I've found that creativity keeps me feeling young and alive whether it be photography, building houses, or exploring new ways of living/being (in other words - spirituality!)
For me, this whole life is about balance, thus one side of me knows there is no 'need' for spirituality in my life but another side really enjoys the exploration of it's myriad fascinating byways. As I get older I am finding that no matter what the theory or belief I am looking at, then there is always a middle place where everything just IS. Letting go of 'attachments' allows me to find that place.
In my experience/observation nearly every person who is into 'spirituality' has 'attachments' to it, which are often just ways of avoiding just 'Being' themselves.
Oh, and many people who are into photography do the same.
As do many of us who write into blogs. :D

AAAGGGHHHH! I've just been overrun by a herd of paradoxes! :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

The video makes some good points. But I HATE spiritual teachers that giggle.

There is a book, must be 40 years old by now, called , "If You Meet The Buddha In The Road, Kill Him".

Don't read the book! Embrace the title.

Ariel, you were a great teacher and inspiration. Thanks for all the time and energy you've invested in building this place and sharing your insights :hug

One part of me is sad to see you go, but another part of me had the exact same realization and shift in priorities that you just described...Exciting times ahead! :bounce

Ariel,

Thank you for sharing your experiences over the past years. Not sure exactly what drew me to it in the first place, but at the time it provided me solace and comfort. Thank you.

Be well.
