I have heard of someone who has said they had a completely different experience as a child. They said in the middle of their sleep they had a full detachment from their ego and it was like the ego itself was completely falling away and they had the opportunity to fully break away from their ego and live fully enlightened in human form. They had the opportunity to leave the body or stay in it. They said they felt seperate from their ego and even called it a "he", and that they told the oneness that "he" (the ego) "was not ready yet" and they could understand other's thoughts and everything. They said this detachement from the ego was not forced on them and they decided to stay in their ego instead of shed it. They said they had a short time to decide whether they wanted to stay or go. They said it was frightening, and that if they decided to do that they would not be able to live in normal society. They also said they knew they were all one with everything. They said that experience was more real than what they were experiencing in that moment they were sharing that with me. Have you experienced anything like that?

That anxiety is just another thing to surrender. More ego stuff. Fear of death. It's one of the primary blocks to full realization.

Through realizations or seeing through the illusions of a false self, the ego can be dissolved down to one little point in the chest. The anxiety of completely letting go makes that last attachment very strong.
Do you have any realizations or insights that may help completely dissolve the false self?

[...] Apply this to words and you get that the words aren’t what’s important - it’s what the words are pointing to that matters. (Western) Zen Buddhists often take this very seriously - to the extent of being negative about books, negative about following precepts, in some cases even negative about Zen rituals. Recently I’ve read someone who claims that there is no path, just BE (where have I heard that before?)… [...]
