hello there

this is a good article and it is comprehensive. The mind is actually an inherently ‘chatter’ matter and it ‘astray’ until given guidance by our self. We are the gods to our own minds. It has to be guided otherwise it run riot and affect our living.

I liked the excerpt – I think it hits the nail on the head. I also liked the book “The power of now” by Toole, in describing the idea that you are not your mind. Certainly, we are more.

Jarrod, for sure.

Both the mind and your ability to be conscious about the fact that you’re conscious play a role in being able to step away from the mind. Certainly the thought, “I am not the mind and don’t have to listen to its orders” still exists in the mind. To even get there, it is necessary for there to be something prior to and separate from the mind in order for one to be able to look back and notice the mind.

Understanding that you are not the mind is such an important step, so much progress depends upon it.

In regards to the extra question, the ‘thing’ controlling the mind is just what it is, a substance or permeation. I honestly can’t conceptualise it any further as it just doesn’t make any sense to me mentally.

I’ve never really thought about what ‘it’ is, because when I started going beyond the mind ‘it’ was just ‘there’.

Make any sense?
