On the You Are Truly Loved: Enlightenment Forums, one of the topics of discussion is the idea of how there is no controller. Another level of understanding recently came to me and so I’m going to share what I wrote in the forum post here as a blog post as well.
From the typical enlightenment perspective, the separate self / conscious mind / ego / “me” surrenders control and allows existence / God to guide the physical expression of what is. The “me” is not in control and doesn’t make the decisions. Heck, there isn’t even a “me” who is in control of thoughts! Ideas simply pop into awareness.
From the Law of Attraction perspective, EVERY idea arises from the Higher Self. Not one idea you can have originated in the limited conscious mind. It originates in the Higher Self. (More information here.) The physical you is not in control and doesn’t figure out how anything works. That’s not its role, at ALL!
So the physical mind relaxes and lets go of needing to figure everything out, lets go of figuring out the “how” for the future.
When the mind tries to figure out “how” and plays a role it’s not designed to, suffering arises as the physical self feels overburdened with lugging the baggage of all the stuff it’s not designed to carry. The body begins to feel stressed out and exhausted.
Surrender is basically a way to let the various aspects of yourself play their proper roles and so you’re being your WHOLE Self. All parts of the Self work together performing their intended tasks.
So when we say surrender to God, that’s simply another way of saying let go of figuring out how things work with your mind and allow the superconscious non-physical “mystical” knowingness that may come in the form of the Higher Self or spirit guides or guardian angels or what-have-you… all of whom communicate via synchronicity and intuition, let all of those higher dimensional aspects of God play their role in guiding the physical aspects of us.
Yet we understand that at a deeper level, it’s all us anyways for it’s all One. You are that. It’s all you.
So, the physical you is not in control. There is no controller here in 3D physical reality. There is no doer. There is simply action being done.

Seems like duality if you are Surrendering in one breath and in the NEXT… THINKING what do I want.
True Surrender stats when YOU no longer NEED anything… you are an empty vessel from which you FLOW THE PRESENCE of LIFE through you.
Surrendering is a game of the EGO for those who still NEED STUFF…. money, people, things, careers ect to make them BE important to self.
True Surrender is just like the Buddha sitting under the Bodhi Tree… NO Needs, Wants, Desires… just the breath breating the body in this world and the mind consumed with the PRESENCE of what it is.
I can see there are many levels of people who you are writing too… this is always the problem when you ELECT yourself as some GURU Teacher for the masses.
Have you ATTAINED everything that you write… if not… you are just vomiting words that have no meaning and just more Thoughts and Ideas of another ego.
Who does the TEACH TEACH? Yourself… YOU need the STUDENTS to resolve the QUESTIONS within you.. that is why the web site. Do not delude yourself thinking you are TEACHING anything. There is no Teacher… just self.
The one who speaks does not know… the one who knows does not speak.
Pretty much says it all.

Hey Anna-Mae, thank you for this comment. It’s very helpful.
You’re right that this website does help me elicit the answers from within me. It’s one of the most natural ways for the “I Am” within me to express itself in form.
Like you said, surrender can be used by the ego to help manifest things, but that’s not the deeper purpose behind it. Through genuine surrender, things just happen. Life flows through the body on its own without restriction and what we call manifestation simply happens.
and no, I don’t see myself as a super master guru or anything. I’m simply someone who loves Truth and loves diving deeper into the depths of my own being. Am I sometimes wrong? Sure. Do I write about what I have experienced? You bet. Do I write about what I haven’t experienced? I do that too, but I make a point to mention the source of my information when I do so.
On the surface it may seem like there’s a “teacher” and a “student,” but as you know, it’s just Self interacting with Self. We can talk about things like “teacher” and “student” and it can be helpful for people just starting out at the very beginning to get a frame of reference, but you and I both know that’s not actually what’s going on.

That statement is so often misunderstood when taken out of context. If that was truly the case in all contexts, then Jesus, Buddha, Ramana… they didn’t know anything either because they, too, talked about the Truth that they are.
My point was, YOU DO HAVE all the answers… . you just need the QUESTIONS to KNOW and REVEAL to YOU… that you know.
