Thou Shalt Not Speak Like Thou Art From The Middle Ages

Category  God, Teaching

Ten Commandments…unless you enjoy to, of course! :D

Something I’ve always found amusing is how things seem to get this air of mystique when you make them sound really old and Shakespearean.

Somehow “Thou shalt not kill” sounds more “Godly” than “Don’t clock people upside the head.” Have you noticed that? Heck, even “Don’t kill people” sounds less like the official word of God.

It’s like if God came down to earth today, he’d somehow be behind the times and wouldn’t be speakin’ our language. I guess God somehow got stuck in the land-of-hundreds-of-years-ago and forgot to upgrade his personal vocabulary. Someone get God an up-to-date dictionary! Is anyone here an english teacher?

Does the Divine really only come in that one way? Are we really gonna limit the ways in which the Infinite can express itself? Can the words we need to hear not come from a song lyric, a billboard, or a random phrase that jumps out at you when sitting at Starbucks?

What if God appeared in what we consider to be totally normal and mundane?

What if the extraordinary expressed itself extra-ordinarily?

LOL… nicely, and humurously, very well put. Reminds me something Joan Osborne put forth to the mainstream consciousness back in the 90′s… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6vGFMdIzW3E

This is funny … I have to admit that I got drawn to this post because of the middle-agey title! God IS totally normal and mundane. And extra-ordinary. And moving with the times. Maybe that’s why so many people miss His real messages.

When an a-ha moment of awakening or enlightenment occurs, the stimuli itself really isn’t a critical point. If, for instance you notice a beautiful emerald and purple arrayed dragonfly skimming across a pond at the park and you have an epiphany of eternity, the realization is the point, not necessarily the messenger, the dragonfly.

Thankfully, the Source is unlimited in its gifts of grace to bring us to a clear reality of who and what we truly are.I think the randomness of it all is an aspect of beauty in the divine delivery. Many a Starbuck tune has stopped me mid sip to contemplate bigger things than my steaming tall daily.

    Thanks for posting!

I completely agree! I see the divine everywhere I look. The smallest things all around us show us truth and love – we just have to be open to see it!

    Haha,

What’s funny is when you see the movies made about the bible where everyone is talking in King James English…

Or people assume Jesus talked in King James English…

When King James wasn’t going to be born for another 1,000 + years AFTER Jesus’ death and resurrection :)

    Funny :)

Do you have any information on law of attraction? I’m interested on that subject.

Yes, though that isn’t necessarily my primary focus.
