Let’s get into the heart of Non-duality itself.
What does Non-duality mean in the first place? It means that there are “not two” different things. Really it is all One, even two seemingly separate and different things. In essence they are truly One. Completely. Totally.
In the Buddhist tradition, Nirvana is basically the state of enlightenment, heaven, oneness with God. It is karmic completion to where you no longer need to embody here on earth.
Samsara is the unenlightened state of consciousness whereby you continue to reincarnate and play here on earth to realize who you truly are.
Nirvana and Samsara are the same, but only identically the same.
-Zen Koan
Of course they’re the same. There IS nothing else!
Becoming One
We start by living in a world of separation in this lifetime and seek, through various religious or spiritual practices, to attain a true sense of Oneness with God.
There are numerous ways of doing this. The path I personally advocate is through withdrawing attention from the illusion (thought and the external world) and surrendering it all away to God, as discussed previously. Negate the validity of the mind and focus on the Self, for what you focus on expands.
Realize the Self with a capital S. This is called Self-realization.
The world is then recognized to be totally an illusion and unreal. This physical world feels limited and finite due to the limitations of the mind, yet beyond the illusory dream of physical reality lies the Infinite, the boundless and unlimited Reality which is the Truth of your being. In Hinduism, this infinite reality is called Brahman.
There is a perfect saying which I’m going to paraphrase, which really gets to the heart of non-duality.
The world is illusion.
Brahman alone is real.
The world is Brahman.
It sounds paradoxical, and it is, yet this is how existence is structured.
What Is The Illusion?
The world we see is totally an illusion and there is an infinite reality completely beyond space and time, yet it is this infinite reality which expresses itself in this world of the relative. Thus the illusion of this world is actually Absolute reality in physical expression. The world of the relative is a playground where we get to be who we truly are and reintegrate the reality of the Absolute within the illusion of the Relative.
The world functions as a mirror that reflects back to us who we’re being and shows us where our beliefs are in or out of alignment with our true nature.
So appreciate everything in the Universe for every one and every thing you see actually IS God. Not just an aspect of Divinity or a part of Divinity, but literally the same infinite Love of Creation itself. Everything you see is God, appearing to express itself as this or that.
This physical world, just like the human ego that we all have, is not something to be escaped from, nor something to be destroyed, but something to simply disidentify with.
The Process
We first learn to disassociate from everything that is not us including thoughts, ideas, our body, our history, and so on, only to ultimately loop back around and realize that it is all “you”. It’s not that you are either this OR that, but rather this AND that. There is nothing ‘else’ in existence but you for it is all One. There can not be anything other than you. This is the essence of non-duality.
Even separateness and oneness themselves are “composed” of the same one thing.
So do not seek to become One with God or to become enlightened, for you already are. You can’t become enlightened.
Stop seeking and just be.
To be honest, this whole site is starting to seem like a humorous joke, just like everything else in duality, as well as all other beliefs.
The content of this post is not anything to be believed in or not believed in. It’s just a hint of what’s to come if you choose to drop all beliefs entirely. ALL beliefs.
Rest in the mystery of the unknown, the silence, the infinite nothingness beyond name and form.
A Personal Note
I don’t expect anyone to believe this, nor do I actually want anyone to. I’m sitting here laughing at the absurdity of duality.
Without giving attention or thought to the outside world, it feels like everything is starting to fade once again from physicality to oneness. Everything that’s looked at is the One. Separateness is Oneness. It’s true non-duality. This is starting to come up BECAUSE the beliefs are all being let go of, as well as all attachment and clinging. It’s pretty wild…
Words feel like they’re of no use, no value. It’s more like resting back in a silent bliss.
In previous posts, I have mentioned how every thing in the universe is the entire universe in and of itself. A chair, a fraction of a chair, a road cone… each thing is the infinite universe, completely the whole entire thing. Pretty wild, huh?
Now this makes absolutely no sense whatsoever to the mind, doesn’t it? The mind I have has been looking for some sort of intellectual explanation to go alongside this spontaneous realization, but it wasn’t really able to explain it. (That’s just an ego game, sure, but still..)
Wonderfully, I recalled a Bashar lecture in which he speaks about how everything is made up of one single thing. This should help add a few more pieces to the puzzle on a mental level.
Question:
There’s been a lot from the scientific area about the subatomic particles called neutrinos and these beautiful little elements that are pouring into our planet and through us. Is there is a way that you could help us understand how we might receive and better understand what these particles are?
Bashar:
Alright. Thank you. They are one level that is closer to understanding how every particle in your physical universe is the same particle. Let us explain.
From our perspective, we have a view that we have, in your language, labeled the prime radiant, that goes something like this. Now we understand that when we use the term ‘particle’, we know that is a euphemism. We know that even your own scientists understand that when they describe particles, subatomic particles, they’re not necessarily really talking about little grains of solid substance, but they are talking about light energy and they’re talking about relationships and so forth, but we will use the term particle for convenience in this illustration. Alright?
And so the neutrino is much closer than a lot of other subatomic particles to the following principle, as well as is the idea of quarks, also very close to the following principle, to which your scientists are also getting very close, and that is this:
Imagine, if you will, and all of you can do this, vast vast emptiness. Black empty void. Nothing in it, again, just for the purposes of illustration. Now imagine, if you will, one single little particle in the midst of all that vastness, infinite vastness, there is only this one little particle floating in it. So picture that.
Now imagine, as many of your scientists use this terminology, that this particle is, for all intents and purposes, massless. In other words, it is not affected by any force. It can go anywhere, do anything it wants. It is not affected by inertia, not by gravity. There is no gravity. There is no inertia. There is nothing but this particle so it is affected by nothing. Therefore, it can really travel at infinite speed. It is massless so it is not violating any laws of physics by going as fast as it wants to go. It can travel at infinite speed. Infinite speed.
Now then picture that if this particle is truly traveling at infinite speed, that means it can be anywhere and everywhere within the infinite void at the same time. So what might appear to be billions and billions and billions of particles is actually only one particle zipping around so fast that it appears next to itself over and over and over and over and over and over again making it appear as if there is more than one particle. That’s the way it is.
So if you understand that there is really only one prime radiant particle and it is simply following what might be considered to be a geometric path through this infinite void, for lack of a better term for this illustrative purpose, then you can understand that all of the particles, all of the atoms that make up your body, all of the atoms that make up the earth, all of the atoms that make up the stars, all of the atoms that make up every galaxy within the entirety of your physical universe are all made from the same one particle. Not the same type of particle. The same literal one particle in the ultimate time-sharing program doing infinite double-duty as everything there is to be.
So understand the implications here. If it is all the same one particle, if the one particle that makes up what appears to be all the atoms of your body is the same particle that makes up the most distant galaxy you can perceive or imagine, then any time you make any kind of a change at all, you affect everything in Creation. You alter the path of the particle by going from here to here with your little finger, you are actually impacting the farthest galaxy because you are changing the path of the same particle that makes up everything. That’s how powerful you are! Does that give you a clue how to use the idea of neutrinos?
Question:
Yes
Bashar:
Thank you.
[audience claps and laughs]
Of course I understand that what you are doing is applauding for the Universe for its beautiful simplistic design. It is infinitely complex, but it is not complicated. It is absolutely perfectly simple because there is only here and there is only now and therefore there can only be one thing that occupies that here and now so that one thing has to be every thing that there is to be. Simple as that.
What if God was one of us
Just a slob like one of us
Just a stranger on the bus
Trying to make his way home
-Jane Osbourne, “One of Us”
A few months back I was on sitting a plane. As I sat in my seat, I looked at row after row of the back of people’s heads. Quietly sitting and looking around, I suddenly realized exactly what I was looking at and completely bust out laughing.
You know what I saw?
Every person that was sitting in front of me was recognized to be the eyes of God, like a video camera innocently looking out at the world and reporting back “home to God” what it saw.
While it may seem, at first that there are many individuals doing their thing and living their own lives, in Reality there is the infinite awareness of God, looking at itself from every possible angle.
The eye with which I see God is the same with which God sees me. My eye and God’s eye is one eye, and one sight, and one knowledge, and one love.
-Meister Eckhart

Think of a grand orchestra assembled to play an elaborate symphony together.
We recognize that despite the many individual players, they function as a whole.
The All is the One. The One is the All.
Diversity and uniqueness is encouraged, even necessary. Different players play different instruments at different times throughout the performance. If every instrument sounded exactly the same and played the same parts at the same time, not only would the performance be pretty boring, but most players would be largely unnecessary.
The higher pitched instruments provide the melody while the lower resonant instruments provide the depth. The drums can help guide the beat. Every instrument is necessary, important, valuable, lovable, wonderful.
It is in the interest of each individual person to ensure that each person does their part. Even one person playing out of tune or to a different beat affects the performance as a whole.
Oneness does not imply sameness and conformity. It encourages diversity within a greater context of unity.
Our world is very much the same. It’s not necessary for everyone to adpot the same languages, cultures, clothing, religions, skin colors, beliefs, musical tastes, and so on. Every unique aspect within Oneness serves a wonderful purpose.
The whole is strengthened when each individual is allowed to be who they are and accepted for who they are, and from this place of allowing and acceptance, they learn how to play in harmony with the whole.
At the highest level, what is in alignment with the highest good for the individual is in alignment with the highest good for the all. It can be no other way for the individuals are the all. We are all One.
Separation is one of the biggest and most fundamental illusions in our world. It’s one of the root causes behind suffering, violence, and rejection. The Truth is that We Are All One.
Here’s a fun game you can try out. Try it over the next few weeks, or even months, and watch how radically your perspective of the world shifts. (Thank you to Neale Donald Walsch for providing the inspiration for this game.)
The Merging Game
Every time you see something outside yourself, don’t separate yourself from it. Merge with it. Encourage your mind to think thoughts of Oneness.
Look at that bum and say, “There I am, being homeless.”
Look at the movie star and say, “There I am, being famous.”
Look at the grass and say, “There I am, being the grass.”
Just keep seeing yourself everywhere. Just look and say, “I am that.”
Next thing you know, you’ll be walking down the street with a friend. He’ll more than likely notice the way you’re looking at things in such a deep way and ask you, “What are you thinking?”
The conversation might flow something like this:
“Well, I was thinking about how I am that.”
“You are that? What are you talking about?”
So you start pointing to things all around you and say “I am that. I am that. I am that.”
He’ll counter, “No you’re not. You’re you.”
“Not really. Not in ultimate reality. In this world of illusion, I am ‘me’ over here, but in ultimate reality, I am ‘me’ over here, and I am that.”
“huh?”
“Really. I am that… I am.”
All of the sudden, you realize you’ve merged with God himself. You’re now pointing to different things, telling people, “I am that, I am.”
Playing this game, you notice it becomes WAY easier to develop compassion and unconditional love for people.
For example, say someone in your life is arguing with you and making you angry. It becomes a battle between you and them.
Merge with them. Say to yourself, “I am Bob, offering my opinion.”
Suddenly all the anger vanishes. The battle of You vs. Them has become a discussion within Yourself.
No more duality, no more separation, no more illusion.
Try it. See if it works for you. Then share your realizations, insights, and feedback with us in the comments area below
