We’ve all heard the famous instruction to “look within.” it comes in many forms.
“The Kingdom of God is within you.”
“All Truth is within.”
What on earth does that mean? Where is in? How do we look at it? How do we find it? Our eyes can only look outside of us. How are we supposed to look within?
Awareness Watching Awareness
When one begins to ask themselves, “What am I?’ the question will ultimately lead to the dissolution of the very person asking the question. The “I” that I’m seeking does not exist. The only aspect of “you” that is always there no matter what is the non-personal awareness. You are awareness.
Now awareness can be focused on what’s part of the illusion including thoughts, ideas, other people, my own body, the world, and so on. When we watch our thoughts, we can use our awareness (what’s real) to simply watch the thoughts (what’s unreal) pass by without identifying with them.
Alternatively, we can point the awareness (what’s real) directly at itself. Let’s try this now.
Notice the aspect of you that is aware of these words, the location you’re in, that’s aware of what’s being seen, heard, and felt. Notice that there is something that is aware of these sensations.
Next, actually become aware of the fact that you are aware.
By doing this, by being awareness watching awareness, you are now TRULY looking at your Self. By doing this, you are not going through the mind or engaging in any ego illusion. The illusion is being pierced straight through. When one loses focus on the awareness itself, the awareness is now focused back on the illusion and has lost touch with Reality.
Spirituality and Self-Realization Is That Simple
There’s so many distractions along the path of Self-realization. All enlightenment comes down to is realization your true nature. Things like crystals, manifestation, chanting, brain wave altering, channeling, and all other sorts of practices may certainly help you experience phenomena, but they will not give you the realization of the Self.
Realizing your true nature involves seeing through the illusions and keeping your attention focused solely and squarely on the Self, the awareness.
By doing this, the mind will begin to grow quieter and quieter as it progressively unravels. It will still kick and scream from time to time and continue to flare up occasionally, but when it does, simply surrender away the juice the mind gets from those experiences and it will lose its grip over you. By seeing yourself as awareness, this will progressively weaken and ultimately dissolve all identification with thoughts and with the mind.
You will then start to have “spiritual experiences” whereby you have glimpses of your true nature, and these experiences will be more real than anything of this world. These experiences will increase in frequency and duration until they become your permanent state.
We’re going to start talking about multiple dimensions and parallel universes, but we’re going to keep everything nice and simple.
First, let’s start off with a 5-minute clip from What the Bleep Do We Know? illustrating additional dimensions:
In the video, the additional dimension was represented by the third dimension.
In our three dimensional reality, the additional dimension would now be the fourth dimension.
In the fourth dimension, a higher being (not necessarily an old bearded main in the sky) would be omniscient, meaning he’d able to see what is happening in all places in our reality at once. From a higher dimension, all would be visible simultaneously. Many of our limitations like not being able to see through walls would be easily transcended.
Now I want to offer you a really, really interesting concept.
Science is finding out that there are MANY different dimensions. Metaphysics has been telling us that there are an infinite number of dimensions and science is now coming to the same conclusion.
Let’s keep exploring this idea of progressively more and more dimensions and see what, if any, practical value this understanding can offer us. Read More …
If the world is an illusion, then hunger is an illusion too. If that’s the case, why bother eating?
Great question. Let’s take a closer look at what “illusion” actually means.
First off, pretend you’re driving a car. The car you have is a tool. The tool is not you, but it still needs to be filled with gas and taken care of to run effectively. Don’t give it any gas and it’ll stop working.
The car, however, is not you. It is clear that you are the driver of the car, not the car itself.
The “illusion” would be that the car is you and that if the car dies, you die.
People have a tendency to believe that their bodies are them and if the body dies, they die. We can see this reflected in the way we language things such as, “I’m don’t feel good” when they have a stomach ache. The stomach you have may hurt, but the stomach is not you. The language is reflecting the illusion.
The first error is a case of mistaken identity.
The first illusion is that the car is you. Seeing through the illusion gives you the realization that the car is not you. Read More …
The only way to function in life is to pretend that you’re doing something.
The reality is that there’s only awareness which is aware, which is experiencing that which we call physical reality. There is solely beingness.
There is no “you” that’s doing anything. There is no chooser. There is no decider. Choosing and deciding are something that just happens. They’re simply an autonomous aspect of the unfoldment of creation.
It is the false ego self, the impostor, who does the deciding and the choosing, as well as all doing, and then claims that it is “I” who is doing any of these things.
There is no separate “I” in life. “You” as an individual being don’t actually exist. The idea that you do is one of the most fundamental illusions of all life.
Even if there is no one who is doing anything, don’t we still need to make goals in life? Don’t we still have to do something useful with our lives?
Certainly! Even with the recognition that there’s no “me” doing anything, life keeps going. It doesn’t stop and neither do we.
You need to act as if that there is a goal-maker, a chooser, who is deciding things. You need to play that role and pretend that this person exists, but there is a constant awareness that this isn’t actually “you.” It’s simply a role that you’re playing.
As long as you know you’re just acting (being in this world, but not of it), there are no problems and there is no suffering.
Problems only arise when you forget you’re just acting and actually believe that this sense of identity IS you. Adopt a limited sense of identity and you suffer. It’s as simple as that.
Let go of all identities as if they were absolute Truth and all suffering ceases. Why? Because there is no one there to suffer!!
Then you’re free to come back in this world and PRETEND that you’re doing something, but there’s the awareness that there’s only awareness. Awareness watching an actor perform on stage.
There’s no need to try and deliberately stop anything that you’re doing in life. The doing will continue on its own. Thinking and decision-making just happen for you without you necessarily having to consciously think about them, right?
Of course. Allow them to do this. This is how the body is designed. Read More …
