Consciousness. Awareness. I used to think this was synonymous with the ‘I Am’, but now it looks like they’re actually two distinctly unique things.
Nisargadatta Maharaj has a text titled Prior to Consciousness (you can find some quotes from it here). I remember reading over some of the quotes some time ago and noticing how much of it went right over my head. “Prior to Consciousness?” Can anything really exist apart from consciousness? (If a tree falls in a forest and there’s no one around to hear it, does it still make a sound?) What kind of reality is existence without consciousness? Is Nisargadatta arguing semantics here or is he rockin’ out some ninja-level mojo here?
It turns out life decided to set up a really powerful experience to help me understand what he meant…

For the first time since starting this blog, I feel a sense of completion in terms of writing about spirituality, consciousness, nonduality, and the nature of the egoic mind. The recent post Want to Wake Up? Focus Upon the “I Am” sealed the deal. There are so many fun things to explore in the spiritual arena including chakras, past lives, the law of attraction, and all that jazz, but when it comes to waking up from the dream of separation, that post goes right to the heart of enlightenment. It is what I had heard many times while passionately seeking and yet continually overlooked and what what shines clearly today as the seeking energy is seen through. The sheer simplicity of the I AM, the I AM that’s ALWAYS here.
How then shall I live?
Something that Adyashanti once said has really left an impression upon me. He said that the first and primary question of the spiritual journey is Who Am I? Once that is discovered, the next question is How then shall I live? It is this second question that takes an internal realization and expresses it as an external manifestation. It is this second question which helps our internal transformation permeate all aspects of our being. It is this second question that allows you to come back and be in this world, but not of it. It is this second question that shifts us from simply knowing and being the Truth to LIVING the Truth, from realizing to experiencing, and to letting go of all that is not in harmony with the infinite being that we have realized ourselves to be. This is what this physical experience, from my perspective, is all about: experiencing more and more of who you really are. Since you are All That Is, what else is there to experience?

♪♫ “Life is but a dream…” ♪♫
You know what? That’s not a metaphor or just some random lyrics in a song… When we talk about physical reality being the “dream state,” that’s actually a quite literal explanation.
Life is becoming such a joy now that my state of being is no longer tied to the circumstances of life and thus at the affect of it. It’s like unconditional joy. It literally does not depend on what happens in the world!
Blurrrrrr
The lines between what we call “real life” and what we call “dreaming” at night have begun to blur for me. There doesn’t seem to be much difference anymore and it’s quite a fascinating and enjoyable experience.
Real life is literally starting to glow with this colorless radiance. It feels much more malleable, as if it’s more like playdough than actually solid substance. Even walking through the aisles at the grocery store, I don’t so much see cream cheese and milk (though I do mentally perceive that too when necessary), but I feel like I’m directly interacting with liquid love. That’s how I’d describe it. (Looking at this experience right now, it feels more like I’m feeling it with my heart than seeing it with my eyes. I guess our hearts can see!)

You guys ready for a mind trip!? We’re gonna start bustin’ out some advanced topics. Enlightenment, spirituality, oneness, it’s all about Love, Peace, Bliss, Well-being, and all that good stuff, right? Well, nooooot quite.
What we’re going to be talking about here tonight, some of this material will go beyond the scope of what we normally discuss here, but not only is what’s coming up one of the topics which excites me the MOST right now, it also takes into account a lot of the realizations that enlightenment shows us directly and allows us to perform what, to the mind, seems miraculous, but is nothing more than actions based on higher understanding that stems from seeing through the illusions of time, space, and linear continuity. Think Jesus and all those “miracles” he performed. Remember him saying something along the lines of “These things and more, you shall do also.” Well, you shall! Let’s start learning how!

Alright, let’s get straight to the point. How do you actually do this? How do you get enlightened?
There’s so many gurus we can follow, all of whom give similar instructions, but they’re all variations on a theme. What’s the best path? The fastest path? The path that’s most appropriate for me? Is there even a best/fastest/right path at all?
How do you get enlightened? Let’s strip away the fluff and look at the core instructions on exactly HOW to do it as instructed from a variety of teachers:

Beliefs are True
Every belief is equally true in that every belief will generate a self-validating reality here in the physical world. If you believe that people are inherently good, for example, you will tend to attract that reality towards yourself. That will be your experience and it’s the subjective experience that is what matters for there is no objective reality outside yourself.
If you believe that people are inherently evil, that reality will be true for you and life will reflect back to you this reality, thus giving you evidence to support your existing belief.
So each belief is true in that it can be backed up by personal life experience if the belief is truly believed in.
Beliefs are False
Paradoxically, every belief is equally false in that it’s not literally True, but more like a pointer towards Truth. A belief is nothing more than a repeated thought that’s bought into such as “ice cream is delicious,” but the belief is not the deliciousness of ice cream itself. A belief is simply a thought.
No belief is ultimately true in and of itself. Your reflection in the mirror has no weight, no solidity. In the same way, the reflection you see back from the world which shows you your beliefs has no weight to it as well. It’s just a reflection so be careful not to get caught in thinking that your experience of the world is ACTUALLY the way things are.

We’ve all heard the famous statement in the Bible saying, “Judge not, lest ye not be judged.” (Matthew 7:1)
Great, but what does that really mean, especially to those of us who don’t speak Shakespearean?
I recently listened to Bashar explain this statement and it was truly an eye-opening experience so I’d like to share this realization with you all now.
It seems that the above statement regarding judgment has been misinterpreted by people over time, something very common (and actually almost unavoidable) when people try to understand something that someone who’s coming from a much higher level of consciousness has said. In the process there’s been some information that was, shall we say, lost in translation.
A Judgmental God?
There’s the myth that God is basically a human ego, just a larger and more powerful one, an angry and jealous God who judges all others.
Chances are if you’re reading this site, the idea that God is a spiteful, angry, and jealous God feels a little off and you’re open to something else. With that, let’s take a look at the statement, “judge not, lest ye not be judged” from a higher perspective.

In previous posts, I have mentioned how every thing in the universe is the entire universe in and of itself. A chair, a fraction of a chair, a road cone… each thing is the infinite universe, completely the whole entire thing. Pretty wild, huh?
Now this makes absolutely no sense whatsoever to the mind, doesn’t it? The mind I have has been looking for some sort of intellectual explanation to go alongside this spontaneous realization, but it wasn’t really able to explain it. (That’s just an ego game, sure, but still..)
Wonderfully, I recalled a Bashar lecture in which he speaks about how everything is made up of one single thing. This should help add a few more pieces to the puzzle on a mental level.
Question:
There’s been a lot from the scientific area about the subatomic particles called neutrinos and these beautiful little elements that are pouring into our planet and through us. Is there is a way that you could help us understand how we might receive and better understand what these particles are?
Bashar:
Alright. Thank you. They are one level that is closer to understanding how every particle in your physical universe is the same particle. Let us explain.
From our perspective, we have a view that we have, in your language, labeled the prime radiant, that goes something like this. Now we understand that when we use the term ‘particle’, we know that is a euphemism. We know that even your own scientists understand that when they describe particles, subatomic particles, they’re not necessarily really talking about little grains of solid substance, but they are talking about light energy and they’re talking about relationships and so forth, but we will use the term particle for convenience in this illustration. Alright?
And so the neutrino is much closer than a lot of other subatomic particles to the following principle, as well as is the idea of quarks, also very close to the following principle, to which your scientists are also getting very close, and that is this:
Imagine, if you will, and all of you can do this, vast vast emptiness. Black empty void. Nothing in it, again, just for the purposes of illustration. Now imagine, if you will, one single little particle in the midst of all that vastness, infinite vastness, there is only this one little particle floating in it. So picture that.
Now imagine, as many of your scientists use this terminology, that this particle is, for all intents and purposes, massless. In other words, it is not affected by any force. It can go anywhere, do anything it wants. It is not affected by inertia, not by gravity. There is no gravity. There is no inertia. There is nothing but this particle so it is affected by nothing. Therefore, it can really travel at infinite speed. It is massless so it is not violating any laws of physics by going as fast as it wants to go. It can travel at infinite speed. Infinite speed.
Now then picture that if this particle is truly traveling at infinite speed, that means it can be anywhere and everywhere within the infinite void at the same time. So what might appear to be billions and billions and billions of particles is actually only one particle zipping around so fast that it appears next to itself over and over and over and over and over and over again making it appear as if there is more than one particle. That’s the way it is.
So if you understand that there is really only one prime radiant particle and it is simply following what might be considered to be a geometric path through this infinite void, for lack of a better term for this illustrative purpose, then you can understand that all of the particles, all of the atoms that make up your body, all of the atoms that make up the earth, all of the atoms that make up the stars, all of the atoms that make up every galaxy within the entirety of your physical universe are all made from the same one particle. Not the same type of particle. The same literal one particle in the ultimate time-sharing program doing infinite double-duty as everything there is to be.
So understand the implications here. If it is all the same one particle, if the one particle that makes up what appears to be all the atoms of your body is the same particle that makes up the most distant galaxy you can perceive or imagine, then any time you make any kind of a change at all, you affect everything in Creation. You alter the path of the particle by going from here to here with your little finger, you are actually impacting the farthest galaxy because you are changing the path of the same particle that makes up everything. That’s how powerful you are! Does that give you a clue how to use the idea of neutrinos?
Question:
Yes
Bashar:
Thank you.
[audience claps and laughs]
Of course I understand that what you are doing is applauding for the Universe for its beautiful simplistic design. It is infinitely complex, but it is not complicated. It is absolutely perfectly simple because there is only here and there is only now and therefore there can only be one thing that occupies that here and now so that one thing has to be every thing that there is to be. Simple as that.
