Skinny or Fat, Love Them All!

Category  Ego, Love, Surrender

I would like to share with you part of an online forum conversation that recently took place, continue the conversation here, and then invite you to share with us your opinions and follow-ups in the comments section below.

Conversation begins:

Kinda funny to see fat people pushing cards with gallon size mayo, 50 pounds of beef, 6 cases of Coke, and a camera on top.

Responses:

Do you think statements like this are appropriate and add value?
So the first person w/o sin cast the first stone…

the implication was that everyone who goes to costco is fat was unnecessary

Response:

Sorry, I didn’t know being fat was politically incorrect or negative in some circles. Here in the islands it’s considered a sign of wealth and prosperity. In Polynesian culture, big big boys are considered “da bomb.” That’s why Hawaiian girls won’t go out with me! And, yes, the folks that shop at Costco Hawaii tend to be bigger and heavier than average. Just like the folks at Ala Moana Shopping Center tend to be shinny and better dressed. It’s just an observation, not a political position. But, yeah, I only weight 135 lbs so folks here think I’m pinching pennies on food. I constantly get asked by coworkers when buying lunch if I need to borrow money! I merely prefer small meals and love working out. Helps me carry around all my heavy gear…

My response:

All the made-up judgments people believe are just that… made-up. They have no basis in actual truth and people get upset over a whole bunch of mental positions. Like arguing over the borders of a country when they don’t actually exist on the earth. We make those up too…

What’s considered attractive today in America are those almost anorexic, tanned teenagers. Not too long ago it was considered attractive for women to be plump and pasty white. Why? It signaled they were wealthy enough to get enough food and that they didn’t have to work out under the sun in the fields like the peasants.

Fat, skinny, blonde, brunette, smart, dumb… whatever. They’re all beautiful in their own way, especially when you start dropping all mental judgments and preconceptions.

Unconditional love baby, it’s a wonderful thing. :)

Another response:

For what it’s worth – attractiveness, looks, and other shallow things put aside – being fat is still unhealthy, regardless of whether your culture thinks it looks good, bad, rich, or poor.

Blocked blood vessels and heart disease aren’t “made up”.

My response:

Certainly those things are not healthy. No one is here to suggest otherwise. In fact, given what we know about health and food today, someone who is aware of the effects of what they eat and simultaneously chooses to love and honor their body would not choose to fill it with toxins and poisons.

So given what we say we want to accomplish, namely a healthy body, combined with our current understandings of foods and their nutritional values, some foods would be in alignment with health and thus deemed healthy (good) while others would be out of alignment and thus labeled unhealthy (bad).

Now, the kicker is that while these things may seem relatively bad, in the grand scheme of things, nothing happens by accident, everything happens for a reason, and everything has a purpose, a purpose you can choose for it.

“Bad” situations may serve a larger purpose and be a springboard for positive change and evolution.

For example, when Lance Armstrong was diagnosed with testicular cancer, surely people would have said how “bad” it was that he got cancer, yet he turned around and overcame cancer, wound up winning six Tour de France competitions, became an inspiration for people worldwide, and started up a cancer foundation that now helps cancer patients all across the globe.

So sure the cancer itself was “bad” in a sense, but in the grand scheme of things, it turned out to be a very important and useful turning point in his life, a tremendous benefit in the end. :thumbsup

So judge not these temporary things such as bad attitudes, diseases, fat bodies, and suffering.

Observe what is, but don’t judge.

Judgment and observation are two different things.

Certainly you may choose who you wish to be in response to what you see. Similarly, you may consciously choose what, if anything, you’re going to do in response to what you see.

Change is always possible. Positive new opportunities will present themselves to you more rapidly and more often when you cease judging, allow things to be, and simply begin making different choices which now move you in a new direction.

Judgment and condemnation are resistance and they keep you focused on what is, thereby producing more of what is.

What you resist persists.

Shift your attention to what you want, to whatever brings you more joy and higher states of excitement.

This is the pathway to continually higher and higher growth.

Just because a certain action or state of being doesn’t vibe harmoniously with you, that doesn’t mean you have to destroy it or condemn it. Simply choose to create higher states of being.

Love all, for true Love is unconditional.

Love is creative, not destructive.

Your turn:

Do you agree? Disagree? Is there something important we’re missing here that must be considered?

One could argue for hours and hours to come…

But once you see that YOU ARE one with those fat people, and live in and from Compassion, they are perfect.

    Every path leads to God.
Even if it leads temporarily over obesity and a heart attack.

I think seeing people as fat/thin whatever stems from a feeling of separateness, the us and them mentality. As Jasper said when you realise that we are all connected, all that can be seen is perfection.

    Scarface Reply:

Fat and thin are just labels one puts on pepole. And are made up by your mind. So I agree with that.
When one is labelling peolpe as fat or thin, it’s just your mind interfering with reality (what you actually see).
So yeah to me everyone is perfect as one is. outwards and inwards.
I think most conversations I have about fat/thin get distorted by the fact whther ot not the other person(s) find that attractive. And when that person says fat girls are not attractive, he starts talking about how she is not perfect. But that is actually BS, that is latting your preferences decide whether someone is perfect.
Someone might not feed your preferences (looks and personality), but that doesn’t make them less perfect. I bet there are peolple out there that think she is hot, because there preferences are different.
And when one sees how much of what your preferences are actually due to programming of the society (parents, media, friends, etc) you recieved!
