Hey Tom,

Thank you for sharing your input, as well as for pointing out the typo.

While protons and electrons aren't opposites in and of themselves, they do have opposite forces, sure.

What are protons and neutrons fundamentally? They're just energy vibrating at different frequencies. The vibration determines the characteristics and attributes such as positive or negative charge. So what may certainly appear to us as equal but opposite charge is nothing more than the same energy vibrating at different frequencies.

Regarding the idea of this post or a chair being an illusion, the problem with intellectualizing about it is that without any experience of "waking up" out of the illusion, it's hard to say for sure what is illusion and what is not.

It's like if as soon as you were born, they put a virtual reality headset on you and you grew up thinking that what you saw in the headset was real, yet people who didn't have the headset on told you that it was all an illusion.

Arguing about the illusion from within the illusion is pretty tough. By analogy, how can you teach a fish about water if it's been in the water the whole time? You'd have to show the fish how to leap out of the water for it to have an appropriate context in which to differentiate water from air, or illusion from reality.

Thus, intellectualizing about illusion is not necessarily the best way of going about it. I'm glad, Tom, that you're not just taking my word for it. None of this is meant as philosophy or "food for thought." It's offered up simply as a way to suggest that there's more than meets the eye, in a sense, and if you'd like to find out for yourself, there are ways of transcending the limits of the human ego/mind and experience a higher reality for yourself, the same way you can wake up in the morning and realize that your dream was, in fact, a dream, despite the fact that the experience was real nonetheless. It's important to actually wake up and realize this, not just debate it from within the dream.

I agree with you that it's not as simple as "making up" electrons and protons. They're part of this physical reality which we are experiencing in the moment. There are certain laws that exist within this reality, different "rules" within the dream. The rules certainly apply within the dream and are certainly experiencable. It's the experience itself that is real, not the props within the dreams themselves.

Thoughts are all part of the illusion. It is thought that helps us perceive that which we call electrons and protons, but in reality, there is only that which is. It is all one and the same. It is unified, infinite, and whole. There is no separation, but it is our thoughts which create separation where there actually is none.

But again, as LeVar Burton from Reading Rainbow used to say, don't take my word for it. ;)

Would just like to point out that this article makes several assumptions that would have to make what you are saying true. You also did not use the word "compliment" right. you meant to use "complement" when referring to life and death being complementary pairs. Also, I would contend opposites do exist, such as an electron and proton and respectively to these, positrons and anti-protons. While I'm sure you would just call them complementary pairs, that doesn't really change the fact they have exact opposite forces. It is not like temperature, where there are only varying degrees of heat, it is actually an opposite force.
And to the person posting above (anonymous), yes this post actually exists. You experience it, it exists. You can't deny the existence of the chair you are sitting in. Philosophers have debated this and it is futile to believe "everything is an illusion". Even if you take the extreme Descartes approach, and further it by saying it could just be our brains sitting in a tub, getting electric pulses or such creating our experiences, that doesn't really get you anywhere does it? In order to act in the world, we as humans make reasonable assumptions in order to act successfully.
And to Ariel - our minds did not make up electrons and protons. The ego did not just make this up. They are found in nature, discovered, much like electricity. All thoughts are not based in illusion. The fact this article exists, is not an illusion. Every action has an equal and OPPOSITE reaction. Newton's law of motion. Deal with it.

Indeed, the only experience one can have is based on their filters of perspectives, beliefs, and expectations about life. Hence, each and everyone of us have different experiences because each and everyone of us have different combinations of our filters (perspectives, beliefs, expectations).

Therefore, the important question to be asking is: "Do my perspectives, beliefs, and expectations about life give me the experience I desire?". I believe in a universe (or dream if you prefer) where love is the answer and there are truly no opposites (only illusions) to love and every extension of love.

Rather I am flawed in my thinking or not, it does not matter, what matters is that in my perceived reality all I see is love and all I expect to sense is love: therefore everything is (in my experience) about love. I would never knew if my view is flawed because my experience tells me that it is not. Every attack is a cry for love. Everything is love, there is no other answer to me. Therefore there is no other experience.

Science discovered something very unusual that they can not explain. They discovered that infinite potential is everywhere, yet once an observer comes along and observes the space in which infinite potential was once found (through trail and error), the infinite potential no longer derives from that space unless the observer is not observing it. They can not figure out what the observer has to do with anything! Yet, the observe narrows infinite potential down through a filter of what they belief, what they expect and what they perceive things as being. Makes you think huh?

Thank you for another masterpiece article Ariel.

Interesting point. It's certainly possible to take the pessimistic stance and say that only the negative side exists. Whatever works for you. :)

Why is it that we tend to state that the "nicer" of two opposites "inherently exists"?

For example, most people would prefer that "love" inherently exists with fear being the non-existent "phantom" ... or that "good" inherently exists with evil being purely a fantasy of the unenlightened mind.

But what if evil *is* in fact the underlying "reality" and good an occasional surprise; that is, if the universe is genuinely cold and cruel with good being only the occasional absence of "inherent evil"!

Could the "reality" be that absolutely none of this exists at all -- neither good nor evil, good nor bad, love nor fear -- it is simply a "bad" (or "good" ;-) dream -- all of it -- including this discussion -- and that even our concepts of duality are flawed!
