Here II Here

Picture a guy who awakens to his true nature, begins leading satsangs discussing Truth, then starts up a band to sing about Oneness, Awareness, Love, God, Jesus, Buddha, Ramana Maharshi, Consciousness, Nothingness, Silence, Surrender, Compassion, Abundance, Truth, and many of the other spiritual topics we discuss here on this site.

Picture this band traveling across the country and the world, performing for Byron Katie, Gangaji, Michael Beckwith, Neale Donald Walsch, the Dalai Lama’s spiritual advisor (Did you guys even know he had one? I didn’t…), and so on.

Put that all together and you’ve got yourself the band Here II Here.

Their name is based upon the principle that you are always right here in this now moment. You are always going from here to here.

Last night I had the opportunity to watch them perform live for the second time. What an amazing group, radiating love and light, spreading the energy and understandings of Oneness and Truth.

I had a chance to help them unload their gear and speak with them before we all got started and I had some amazing conversations with the band members.

Nothingness

A couple song lyrics in particular caught my attention during their performance:

“We are all nothing pretending to be something.”

Easily one of my favorite lines in all their music. It’s so raw and pure, but not easily understandable to the mind. When the veil drops, it is instantly realized that there is no thing in existence but existence itself. There is no thing that expresses itself as this and that. All concepts of identity exist only in the mind, not in Reality. Hence the relevance of the statement “I am.” Nothing added after the word “am.” The word “I” simply points to what is.

You are not a thing, as they pointed out several times, but the awareness in which everything happens. You are that infinite consciousness. This is key key key!!

They performed the song Imagine and in the gap after the line “imagine no possessions” the lead singer, Ash, inserted the comment “as if they actually existed in the first place” which had me cracking up yet again.

Unconditional Love

Ash also spoke on unconditional love and how people are searching for love even though it’s already right here.

If you want to know unconditional love, think of the floor. It’s supporting you and it doesn’t care what kind of underwear you’re wearing, or if you’re even wearing any at all!

If you want to know unconditional love, think of the oxygen you’re breathing. It doesn’t care if you’ve brushed your teeth or not. It loves you just the same.

Unconditional Love is not something you earn or become deserving of. It is given freely simply because you are. Truly without condition.
