When I graduated from college, I deliberated decided not to get a job and do the whole career thing and instead devote myself fully to my spirituality, to really getting this whole enlightenment thing down.

Now, 3 years later, I have come to several conclusions.

1. I got into this wanting to know the Truth. Now I know that I really know nothing to know and this freedom and simplicity cracks me up. Somehow there is joy in this emptiness of not knowing *and* being totally at peace with it, in this not knowing and not trying to figure something else out. Instead there’s just the ecstasy of being who you really are.
2. When you surrender trying to get somewhere as if there’s some pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, you find that there is now a natural supportive unfoldment of life in this moment and that you are an inseparable part of it. When you let go and simply allow the joy of being to shine forth, call it shining your light or whatever, this is truly an amazing experience and seems to be how we were really *meant* to live before we got all caught up in egoland and attachmentville.
3. The desire of ego is essentially to obtain, acquire, and all that jazz… basically ways to achieve security, approval, control, and all the other things it feels it lacks. The desire of Spirit is to be itself, know itself, and experience itself in its absolute pristine glory, to experience the extraordinary in the ordinary, to experience what it already is now. It takes care of the well-being of the mind and body when we allow the energy of our Light/Spirit/Soul/Heart/Source to be what life is all about.

Enjoying Life

The basis of life is absolute freedom. The objective of life is absolute joy.

and so, in the name of Pure Joy I am moving to Boulder, CO. My inner guidance and outer confirmations are all pointing towards this move. My intuition and excitement are all giving me the green light. Finally!! Full speed ahead! I’ve been wanting to do something for ages! I even tried to give it a go a few months ago but couldn’t fully commit to it since I couldn’t feel that inner okay. Now that it’s here, it’s been such a joy to watch as everything necessary for this trip thus far miracoulsly and synchronistically unfold when needed. I’ll admit there’s also a lot of sadness in letting go of my old home here in Roswell and saying goodbye to my friends and family. At the same time, there’s this deep joy of experiencing this moment AND experiencing the anticipation of what is yet to unfold.

Where am I gonna live? I’ll figure that out when I get there!

Since I’ll be on the road by the time this post goes live, I probably won’t be updating this blog as regularly. However you can follow my travels on my photoblog which I will be updating from the road. I want to document what it’s like to live life from a place of Oneness and Joy, as fully aligned with Source energy as possible.

My tentative plan involves going to New Orleans for Mardi Gras, stopping in Dallas to shoot a cheer competition, exploring the scenic desert landscapes in the southwest, hiking down from the South Rim of the Grand Canyon and camping down on the floor, visiting several national parks in Utah including Canyonlands and Arches to hike, camp, and shoot photos, and finally making my way east across the Rockies into Colorado to settle in and find a new place to call home for however long, stopping to meet friends all along the way.

Alright, let’s hit a hot topic: Money

What does money make you think of right off the bat?

Abundance? Freedom? Limitation? Greed? What comes up for you?

We’ve all got unique perspectives on it, and chances are we all have our share of limiting (or unlimiting) beliefs regarding money.

Addressing Some Ideas of Why We Shouldn’t Want Money

In some spiritual circles, it’s really common to have the “poor monk” perspective. Basically it’s the mindset of “give freely of everything that you have, don’t charge for anything, and accept money only in the form of donations.” We see this very commonly in ascetics and beggars who are trying to give up everything in the name of needing nothing and going beyond the ego’s desires. You’ve probably heard that quote by Jesus talking about how it’s easier for a camel to walk through the eye of the needle than it is for a rich person to get into heaven or something along those lines. This has lead to so many people valuing being poor over being rich. But it’s not about the money, it’s about the attachment to money. You can be an enlightened millionaire or you can be an enlightened beggar. Enlightenment has nothing to do with one’s external conditions. It has to do with our attachments to the world of form.

There also seems to be a lot of resistance to people collecting money for their services, as if if you truly love something, you should only do it for free. You may even hear people say, “I love doing this so much, I almost feel guilty for making money doing it!” There’s nothing wrong with receiving money for what you love to do. As long as you don’t make money the priority over being yourself, giving of yourself, and living within integrity, allow yourself to receive money! The universe has to flow both ways! Money is just energy, like everything else, and all energy needs to flow. Give and receive…

Giving and Receiving

Speaking of which, there’s another saying, “It’s better to give than it is to receive.” Nonsense! You can’t have one without the other. In order for someone to give, another has to receive. They’re both necessary in order for either to exist. It’s 50/50. Neither one is better than the other. If you trace that statement back to its original form, it was actually, “It’s better to be in a position where you are able to give than to be in a position where you have to receive.” Now that’s quite a different statement, isn’t it?

There is tremendous value in both giving and receiving. I remember hearing a story about a father who would never accept gifts from his daughters on his birthday or on father’s day. He would always tell them to save their money and buy something for themselves so that they would be happy. One day someone asked him how it felt when he had the opportunity to give to his daughters. Without skipping a beat he responded that it felt amazing! The person then replied that by not allowing himself to receive from his daughters, he had actually been ripping his daughters off from the gift of giving for all these years. Upon realizing how much he had been depriving his daughters by not allowing himself to receive, he immediately burst out into tears.

Allow others to give to you by allowing yourself to receive. It’s something great you can do not only for yourself, but for others as well.

Money is Here to Support Us

In the way our society is structured today, money is an important part of our lives. It’s one common means of exchange. Although you can certainly do a lot without money, you can do much more with it. Money doesn’t determine what you’re capable of, but it sure can make things a heck of a lot easier!

You can live without money. I can be a pretty idealistic guy and I love the idea of no longer needing money, of everyone giving of their gifts and allowing the universe to synchronistically provide all that we need, without requiring money. So out of rebellion against people’s dependence upon money, I’ve been proving to myself the past few years that we can manifest what they want and survive without needing money. You can live off credit cards, exchange your time and energy for services from others, ask for the help and goodwill of others, manifest free gifts and free trips, and so on. I’ve done all of them and they all certainly do work. But something I’m coming to find is that we don’t have to invalidate money as a way of receiving abundance. Instead we can recognize that money is simply one more way of being supported in this world. By doing this, we can allow whatever form of abundance is the path of least resistance to come our way. Sometimes we can be supported by money. Sometimes we can be supported in other ways. It’s all good! Whatever the case may be, there is nothing wrong with having money. It is yet another way for the infinite presence of All That Is to show its support for us.

Money is not the source of our support and well-being. Money is one way that Source can demonstrate our inherent support and well-being. Big difference.

You know how when you get a cold, the body starts filling with mucus? Why? It’s basically purging all the crud out of the system.

What’s happening now on our planet is that we’re starting to purge the old way of being.

All of the stuff that we’ve been doing unconsciously that doesn’t work is now coming to the forefront. Our old system based on lack, greed, separation, and fighting over what there is not enough of, it’s becoming very clear that this system DOES NOT WORK.

It’s like we’re becoming conscious of habits that we didn’t know we had. The economic shakeout is showing us that our old habits simply don’t work for us any longer and by crashing down, we’re getting the opportunity to choose a new way that does work for us, a new way that is more reflective of our now raised level of consciousness.

For example, we are all one. Abundance is our natural state, but we can not get rich at the expense of the poor. It may seem like the rich are better off in the short term, but if the poor suffer, the rich wind up suffering too. Notice what’s happening now to investment bankers, for example. You can not affect one part without similarly affecting everything else because it’s all literally ONE! Seeing this expressed clearly in our society, we’re now getting to (more clearly) choose consciously what type of economic/political/governmental system we want.

We don’t necessarily need to be jolted out of our old reality, but to those who are particularly attached to their old ways and are resistant to change, a jolt may be helpful as a way to say, “Snap out of it! Wake up!”

People are now being taught to let go of vibrating in harmony of what they don’t want (surrender) and vibrate in harmony with what they do want (deliberate creation) rather than worrying about and resisting what they don’t want (plain old everyday fear). By making this shift and becoming conscious of what we don’t want, we can literally vibrate ourselves right into a completely new reality, a new earth, and bring heaven down to earth.

This end of the world stuff is EXCITING! It’s not literally the end of human life altogether (though it may be now that we have nukes and all.. who knows…) but more like the end of the human life as we now know it and an entrance into something new!

We’re entering into a new era, a new level of conscious existence! =)

Whatever you’re thinking about is literally like planning a future event. When you’re worrying, you are planning. When you’re appreciating you are planning… What are you planning?

It is no coincidence that in our language, appreciation also has to do with an increasing quantity of money!

I’m doing very well in my life. I’m happy to be in this body. I’m glad I came. I like life on planet earth at this time. I’m appreciative of the environment in which I live. I’m realizing that there’s not a rightness or a wrongness in having money or not having money, it’s just a preference that people are aligning with or not. What is it about having money that I like? I like the freedom that it allows me. I like the context of choices that it provides. I like the arenas that it opens to me. I like the feeling of expansiveness that it gives me. I like having all of those choices. And I adore the idea of having the flexibility to be and do and have more of those things.

I love this planet. I love the idea of exploring it. I love tasting the finest aspects of it and I love getting to choose what those are. I love this benevolent universe. I can feel that my source is calling me toward this abundance. And I can feel when I go, and I can feel when I don’t. And all of that’s alright. It’s not wrong to have dollars or right to have dollars. It just feels one way to align with my own desires, and it feels another way not to align with my own desires. It’s only about that.

I’m not making a statement to the world about what they should do about dollars. I’m not condemning people who have them, or criticizing people that don’t have them. This is only about ME and my gap relative to this subject. And I can feel that my life has caused me to put some things in vibrational escrow that I’ve been holding myself apart from. But now I know what I’m doing. And things are coming in. And I’m getting the hang of this and I’m doing rather well at it. And I can feel the influx of energy. I can feel that my stream is calling and I can feel that I’m more willingly going with it. And I can feel that on many subjects I’ve let go of the oars. I can feel that I’m coming into alignment. I have seen the evidence of my improved vibration in many different aspects of my life. I have seen the improved vibration of my being in the aspect of money in my life. I know I’m understanding this. And I think I’m making too much of all of this. I’m happy that I understand it. I’m going to look for more reasons to feel good. And I’m going to enjoy watching the abundance flow to me.

I’m hoping to see more evidence of the abundance flowing, and I’m believing that I will. In fact I have already seen some of it. This is going to be fun. Nothing’s gone wrong here. Dear Ariel,

I had a realization while reading Ask and it is Given and the first book in Conversations with God for the first time -- I had been focusing on lack! I had been focusing on what I didn’t have, and trying to ‘solve’ it through spirituality, etc. No wonder I wasn’t getting the job I wanted or the success with women I wanted! Duh!

So, I’ve started reframing myself, and *knowing* it’ll happen. And you know what? I got a call from a friend, saying the place he works at is hiring. A girl opened *me* tonight (she looks like a fun one too). I can see thing manifesting, and I know that God will give me everything I desire in time.

My question is -- what can I do to remove resistance and make things manifest even *quicker*? Understand, since I was a fundamentalist Christian I had all the exact WRONG frames at one point -- “You are a sinner”, “Sex is sinful”, “You shouldn’t want money for what you do” etc. I’m still finding these things. It’s like rolling around in the sand at the beach. I’ve got em’ hidden in places I didn’t even know I had.

Is it good to completely ignore that this part of my life ever happened? Just forget it and watch it un-manifest? Should I go through frame by frame reframing myself? How can I *know* what I don’t see (the age old question of faith)?

The other problem is that these things will start to manifest, and in the past, I’d worry about losing them or screwing them up -- so of course they’d magically die in transit. (Wonder why? *laughs*) What can I do to trust the full process?

You’ve brought up some excellent questions regarding the manifestation and what is commonly called The Law of Attraction. Let’s break down exactly what you did, what worked, what didn’t, and what can be done to make your manifestations more effective, to take you to the next level.

First and foremost, by changing your focus from what you are lacking to what you are now choosing, you brought yourself into vibrational alignment with what you do want. Thus, you began attracting the new job and the new girl and because the universe is set up in such a way that it acts like a mirror for your own internal state, your external world produced a reflection of your internal thoughts. It always does.

Perfect. Manifestation includes 3 stages and you’ve successfully completed the first two. The third and final stage needs some adjustment given that you want to completely manifest these new things.

What are the 3 stages in manifestation? As taught in the popular movie The Secret, they are as follows:

3 Stages of Manifestation

1. Ask
2. Answer
3. Receive

You are asking and the universe is answering. It always does. The big question then becomes are you willing to receive?

They didn’t talk much about the correct way of receiving in the film, perhaps due to time constraints, so let’s go into it in a little more detail here.

First of all, how long it takes something to manifest and come into your life is NOT a matter of time. In reality, it’s purely a function of RESISTANCE. The more resistance you’re offering something, perhaps by having opposing beliefs, the desire to control its manifestation, engaging fears about what’ll happen when you do or do not get it, or even having a craving or needing feeling within will actually push AWAY that which you want.

Limiting Beliefs

Beliefs such as “You are a sinner” and “Sex is sinful” clearly are not serving you any longer. Furthermore, they hold you back from creating the reality you say you want, not to mention they have no truth in ultimate reality anyways. These two beliefs are rooted in guilt and shame, among the lowest of all ego-based states. They have nothing to do with Truth, Joy, or Love. At all.

The bad feelings they create will literally hold you apart from the good feeling manifestations you wish to experience.

To “sin” literally means to “miss the mark.” The mark, to use Christian lingo since that’s where the term ‘sin’ was popularized, is Christ consciousness (aka Buddha nature, Krishna spirit, True Self, etc.), the level of consciousness that is in alignment with the kingdom of God, the level of non-dualistic Oneness. God is Love and any feeling other than Love such as guilt, shame, damnation, suffering, and neediness are all ‘sins’ in this context which arise from within the human ego. They’re not inherently “bad” in any way. They are simply missing the mark of Christ/Unity consciousness, of nondualistic unconditional Love.

The hard way of overcoming your limiting beliefs is to brute-force your way there, to inundate yourself with positive affirmations and mental reframes to counteract the momentum of any negative beliefs. I’m not going to suggest you drop affirmations altogether, but allow me to suggest a tool to complement your affirmations and make the process much easier.

Letting Go of Resistance

A lot of our beliefs have a strong emotional charge, a sense of momentum that takes a lot of energy to override. Instead of trying to meet a car head-on and push it the other way, why not put it in neutral and allow it to dissipate on its own, no matter how hard the engine revs? From that point, changing direction becomes much easier, as does sitting still in peace if you so choose.

This is the essence of letting go. Check out the Sedona Method. It’s essentially a guide to mastering the final step of manifestation, of allowing manifestations to enter your life.

Basically what it does is take all the wind out of the sails of your beliefs, emotions, traumas, resistance, and struggles. It puts you in the natural state of total freedom where you’re no longer being pulled in any direction by a power seemingly out of your control. From this place of freedom, it’s MUCH easier to now guide yourself along a particular course of action and allow manifestations to enter your life.

You see, it is the resistance that holds desires back from physical manifestation. It is resistance that tells the universe, “No, what I asked for, I don’t want to allow into my life, even if it’s staring me straight in the face.”

Let go of resistance and watch as manifestation becomes effortless and natural. Synchronistic perfection becomes a way of life, not just an occasional miracle.

Trusting the Process

The universe always gives you abundance. Whether it’s an abundance of abundance or an abundance of lack, your beliefs are the driving force that determines which flavor of abundance you experience.

One of my favorite things to do with the Sedona Method is to let go of needing to control an outcome. You’re not in control anyways. The universe is. The universe can be trusted. By letting go of the illusion of personal control, you allow the universe to work with you, through you, in the way it knows best.

It is easier said than done to trust the universe, so having a set of tools to show you precisely how to let go is extremely valuable. In my experience, trusting the universe arises automatically when I stop trying to worry, control, manipulate, or be fearful of anything, when I stop trying to play the dualistic tennis match of trusting or not trusting the universe.  Trust seems to be the natural state when you quit telling yourself otherwise. When you can become totally okay with whatever happens (by applying the Method), a sense of trust naturally arises. It’s wonderful, actually.

This has shown itself to be a much better method than simply trying to convince myself to trust. It is my suggestion that you try it out for yourself as well.

This is a great tool to add on to your current visualization and manifestation techniques to let go of those resistances which hold your desires apart from you. This is how to master the final step of manifestation: allowing manifestations to enter your life.

So what is abundance, this thing we all want?

Is it having a lot of money? Lots of friends? A job or spouse that provides for you? Enough food on the table? Good health? A roof over your head?

Where is the dividing line between lack, having enough, and abundance?

What is abundance anyways?

Here’s the best definition of abundance I’ve ever heard:

Abundance: The ability to do what you need to do when you need to do it.

If you only see abundance only as money, very often you don’t see abundance in its other forms. You’re blind, so to speak, abundance blind, because “green” is the only color you allow abundance to come in. But abundance comes in a total spectrum. The idea is to understand you must relax your insistence that “It must come in this certain way or I won’t accept it. I won’t recognize it if I don’t see this and this on such and such a date, to the penny. Otherwise, I’m not abundant. What’s wrong with me? I can’t attract this amount of money by this date because I need it for this and I need it for that. What’s wrong with me?” Again, these are just definitions.

If you allow yourself to understand that abundance is simply whatever way, shape or form your automatic synchronicity can attract into your life what you need to allow you to do what you need to do, when you need to do it, then you will begin to realize that you are very abundant, and have been for quite some time. When money is the strongest way a particular kind of abundance can be fulfilled, the money will be there. You’ll attract the opportunity to give you the money. But when money is not the simplest way, when it is not the path of least resistance, which may be the last way it will manifest. You may be receiving many other ways that abundance is manifesting in your life or, I’ll say, attempting to manifest in your life. But you may not be allowing it to, again, because of your definitions.

When we limit the universe by saying that abundance MUST come in the form of money, we are limiting the universe’s ability to provide us with abundance in the way that IT sees as most effortless and natural. Even if we are totally abundant, we will still believe and thus feel that we aren’t abundant, therefore suffering needlessly. There is a way out.

Here is a perfect example of trusting the universe. This story is brought to you by my friend Scott.

Long story short -- my mechanic messed up and it left me without my car for the weekend. If you knew me and how my life goes, that’s a huge set back!!

After the initial “WTF??!”, I composed myself, smiled, and said “Okay God, I trust you.”

Transportation has been as easy as breathing. One example is that tonight I was dropped off at a bar and randomly a girl I know showed up and although she left to go to a nearby place, she came back to get her car right as I was walking out, and bam- ride home.

I have a three day free lance job starting Monday working on a commercial. I called them to tell of my lack of transportation Monday morning, and not only is there a girl on the shoot who lives in my neighborhood who can pick me up, but they need me to drive a van anyway.

Almost two years ago, I had my ACL replaced. It left me pretty helpless for awhile. I couldn’t work for a month. It never ceased to amaze me how money appeared from random unexpected places.

The trick is to TRULY let go and trust God.

When we let go and trust, the universe really WILL help us out in the most amazing ways. Abundance can come in many forms and it WILL the moment we trust the universe to synchronistically work with us.

There is this theory floating around our world today, the theory of LACK.

It says that there are finite resources on this planet. There is not enough for everyone and thus we must struggle with one another and compete for what there is not enough of.

Who gets the resources? Why, the strongest of course! It’s survival of the fittest, a natural by product of evolution. “It’s how things work!”

This is the way things work when people are cut off from their true source within and are trapped in pure egoic consciousness.

The mind of the ego can be likened to an animalistic mind, just purely survival and reproduction based. It can not see beyond itself, beyond physicality. Thus it sees only what it has and recognizes that sometimes what it wants is here, but other times it’s not.

So what it wants is limited and since other people are also trying to take what it wants, it must compete with others for what it wants.

This is the current state of many people in this planet, particularly where we see the strong elite dominating the majority of people who live in poverty and lack.

The reason this mentality is able to thrive is because people have cut themselves off from the inherent source of creation which allows them to create MORE of that which they want.

Grow more food, create more money, share with people more freely, give what you have extra of, even give what seems to be lacking because you KNOW beyond a shadow of a doubt that you abide in abundance and there is ALWAYS more where that came from.

There is always more where that came from.

You see, as more people start raising their consciousness by connecting to the Source of All That Is (and thus entering the kingdom of God), they will begin to realize, both intellectually and experientially, their own inherent powers of Creation.

People will begin to further develop their skills of manifestation, of being able to create something out of thin air!

Isn’t that what growing food is all about? You nourish plants and animals, give them food, water, sunlight, a healthy atmosphere, and food is created from the loving ingredients of Source.

Same thing with everything else. When we nourish certain mindsets, beliefs, and understandings in the right way, we allow them to flourish.

We welcome views of abundance and act upon these states of being and thus make them real here on earth.

Evolution is not just about the strongest surviving. Evolution also entails continual expansion, growth, becoming MORE! That’s what Creation is all about. It’s about becoming more, about experiencing more, about having more, about appreciating more, about loving more, about sharing more.

Not because you’re trying to gain more in order have more and hopefully fill a void within.

Quite the opposite. It’s because you BECOME more that you then experiencing HAVING more, more abundance, more love, more unity, more peace.

So it truly comes down to us becoming more as people and raising our levels of consciousness to being open to abundance, open to all having enough to survive, and open to building the underlying foundation which allows each and every one of us to not only survive, but to THRIVE!

As you begin to acknowledge the Source of Creation within you, call it God, Existence, Christ, Allah, Spirit, Consciousness, whatever you wish… as you acknowledge that all Creation flows through us and ultimately IS us, you’ll find that you truly ARE the source of All Creation.
